This year the Royal College of Art celebrates it’s 175th birthday having been founded in 1837. To celebrate such a big occasion a special anniversary logo has been created by none other than Neville Brody, Dean of the School of Communication. What’s your thoughts?

New design.

For the past 17 years British Gas has used the same logo, so it’s fair to say the re brand was due. We agree that the old design was in need of a face lift, what do you think? New font type, good or bad? New flame, nice modern abstract art? Is it wise to re brand in these hard times? Thumbs up or thumbs down?

The concept’s based on ‘Door’s’ welcoming, opening, shop and shopping centre opening times and finally bottle opening, enjoy Christmas with CO2. You might have been one of the lucky ones that received a ‘Credit Card designed emergency bottle opener’, specially design and produced in Stainless Steel. Christmas is a great time of year for Graphic Designers, we get to develop little ideas and concepts. Don’t under estimate the power of a Christmas Card as a form of promotion and marketing. How many forms of promotion do you know that the recipient will read it from cover to cover and then display it in their office for 5 to 6 weeks and what a way to start the new year. So don’t under sell your company by sending High Street or Charity Cards.

Run by East Renfrewshire Council, the £100k Challenge involved giving advice and information to 17-18 year old S6 pupils on how to start and become successful running your own business through a series of seminars and competitive tasks.

CO2′s own David was asked to attend these events as a business mentor and give the school kids the benefit of his experience running a successful business.

All final year design students at Glasgow Met were invited to create a poster for iconic Scottish chocolate biscuit brand, Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers.

Client facing

Answering the phone, taking enquiries from existing clients, initially attending meetings with a director as a form of introduction, taking notes and help brief the designers.

Project Management

Emailing clients with the costs and designs and progressing each project. Dealing with suppliers (printers etc). Filling in orders for suppliers. Running the schedules, deliveries etc.

Business Development

Keeping in contact with current clients, seeing if we can help them and build on the long term, lasting relationships.

New Business Development (New Clients)

Any enquiries, meet, follow up and supply costs.

Networking

We are members of 6 networking groups, we meet get contacts and follow up.

Handling and growing CO2′s client database

Add contacts to and manage the database in Excel, send letters, call and follow up.

As many of you may already have noticed, the BBC have begun the roll-out of what they call their “site refresh”. The changes are being slowly rolled out in stages with the BBC paying close attention to feedback from loyal bbc.co.uk visitors as they go.
